Coach Popovich is no stranger to voicing his disdain for Donald Trump. On Monday, the five time NBA champion coach, and U.S. Air Force veteran, took sharp aim at the President, calling him a “soulless coward.”
In an unsolicited phone call to Dave Zirin at the Nation, Coach Pop expressed his disappointment at the President’s claim that Barack Obama did not visit the families of fallen soldiers. During a news conference at the White House on Oct. 16, President Trump claimed, “President Obama and other presidents, most of them didn’t make calls, a lot of them didn’t make calls. I like to call when it’s appropriate, when I think I’m able to do it.”
Coach Pop didn’t hold his tongue, calling Trump a “soulless coward who thinks that he can only become large by belittling others.”
“We have a pathological liar in the White House, unfit intellectually, emotionally, and psychologically to hold this office,”
Popovich also didn’t mince words for Trump’s colleagues, remarking that “the people who work with this president should be ashamed, because they know better than anyone just how unfit he is, and yet they choose to do nothing about it. This is their shame most of all.”
Well, talk about leaving nothing up for interpretation. Check out Popovich’s full comments to The Nation here.
